AAFUD’s team recently visited Peru, the global core producing region of cochineal red(Carmine), to inspect local production bases. The visit aims to source safer, premium natural raw materials for clients, strengthen our supply chain layout, and boost product core competitiveness via strict source quality control.
1. Peru: Prime Source of Premium Cochineal Red(Carmine)
Cochineal red(Carmine) is an FDA-approved natural red pigment applicable to food, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. It features non-toxicity, harmlessness and stable color, widely used in snacks and cosmetic products.

2. On-Site Inspection: Strict and Professional Raw Material Quality Control
During the inspection, our team surveyed multiple core local production bases. We reviewed the full production workflow including cochineal breeding, raw material collection, drying, grinding and purification, and fully evaluated each base’s breeding scale, quality control standards, production capacity and supply chain response efficiency.
Local manufacturer communication confirmed year-round cochineal harvesting is possible, with concentrated peak seasons in May-June and October-November.
